Cardinale Formation

Cardinale was formed at the beginning of 2008 as a  4 part Chamber Choir to sing at All Saints Chermside on the third Sunday of each month.

 Cardinale Priciples of Operation

  1. Music is sent out, with the month's rehearsal and performance schedule, shortly after the 3rd Sunday of the month.
  2. Ros Kay (soon Dr) is our organist and Pastoral Musician in the parish, but Cardinale's musical direction is delegated to Tony Winter. Ros Kay lectures in Music History at UQ and also prepares our notes for the congregation as required.
  3. We work on a 'minimum rehearsal and maximum musicianship' basis.
  4. The initial rehearsal is Friday, 5.30pm @ the Musical Director's residence two weeks before the 3rd Sunday weekend, (usually the 1st Friday, but sometimes the last Friday of the previous month), for sight reading together.
  5. Our main rehearsal on the 3rd Saturday at 4.00pm at All Saints Chermside Church is with the organ and is for registration and interpretation.
  6. Our warm up is on the 3rd Sunday in Parish Centre behind the Church at 7.45am including last minute briefing of service items.
  7. Confirmation of members availability is required to the Musical Director when the monthly schedule is published.
  8. The schedule is emailed either early in the month or late the previous month depending on when the first rehearsal falls.
  9. We keep at least two people per part to allow for any last minute illness.
  10. We do as professional a performance as possible on 3rd Sunday of the month at the 8.30am Eucharist to the Glory of God.
  11. Our year goes from March to February, with a recess in January.
  12. Music is chosen by the Musical Director and the Patoral Musician for each respective liturgical year and published 12 months in advance. (Special items for inclusion in the program can be requested for each year).
  13. Sometimes our music is re-arranged in Noteworthy for our members.
  14. We work together and for each other to develop our "ensemble" and artistry.
  15. We engage in musical education as we develop.
  16. We aim to sing a wide range of musical styles and composers to develop our repertoire.
  17. Our uniform is a red top and black trousers or skirt.
  18. Enquiries to the Musical Director or Parish Musician.
